The Samples were taken from the Springs, as numbered, the temperatures of which ranged fi;om 105degs. to 119degs. Fahr ' — o a Ni These Waters are all feebly alkaline and “’tronglj charged with carbonic acid gas, which is constantly escap-.ng from the Springs .. in large quantities. The Lithia, a valuable constituent of these Waters, is present in n appreciable quantity. The Analysis sliov these Springs to be very similar in composi tion. These Minerul Waters are exceedingly interesting, and will prove of great vaiu medicinally. They closely resemble some the European Mineral Springß no justly brated, more especially those ot Vichy,.Etna andFachingen. Their Curative Value will be greatest in Rheumatic and Arthritic Diseases, Calculus, Affections of the Kidneys, and Dvspepia. You may rest assured that ail you < art • do for your Springs in the shape of improving the facilities for their use, is entirely justified by the character of the water,” IMPORTANT TESTIMONY AS TO THE VALUE OF THE BATHS, Ac. Sir James Hector states:—" Thest are similar to the waters of Vich * and Gnandesaignes, in Prance ; BiJih, ■ Bohemia ; Ems, Nassau ; and are besides quite equal to them in strength.” / The following brief extracts are selec from among some hundreds of testimonials a similar character whieh have been ~ . from time to time : From Bishop Hadfield, Wellington 1 Having been at Te Aroha four weeks, and having obtained great relief from the use of bath No. 3, I think it well to add my testimony to that of others which you have already re eeived Having had a very severe fall, which occasioned me much pain in my back andconsiderable inconvenience, and which in capa-Rated me for any exertion for nine weeks, I am now almost entirely free from pain,andam ableto walk a moderate distance. From Ms J. Holloway, Manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Nelson: “I feel louuht to place on record my . high appreciation 0 of the waters of your justly famous baths- For many months past I have suffered from a severe attack of sciatica and lumbago, cudin<* latterly in complications of scarcely less painful nature'. After about. $ month’s residence at Te Aroha, I am tuankfuTto say I can move ! about with considerable ease, while the pain ! from which I have suffered so long has almost left me. It will be my pleasure as well as my duty to recommend all my friends who may be in search of health to try the waters of Te Aroha. From Captain T, Fraser, M.L.C. Dunedin “ I shall be pleased if you will ive me an opportunity of publicly expressing my opinion of the Te Aroha Springs. Since my residence at Te Aroha, from what I have seen and heard, I am convinced that these spring contain extraordinary curative properties lost the following complaints : Suppressed gour, rheumatism in all its forms, dyspepsia, and* cutaneous disorders; and as the. springs aie proved to contain heavy traces of lithia, tney must be efliacicus in rena.’-complaints. Wherever I go I shall, in the interests of humanity, make known the special virtues of the-TTe' Aroha Springs.” •• From Mr Balfour, Manager of the £ & ofN.Z., Napier. “ I wish to testify t 0 ~ the very great relief I have experienced from using the Te Aroha hot baths'. I have been subject — for many years to rheumatism, and in April last had a very severe attack, whici proved obstinate to shake off, and after trying vainly many remedies, was ordered to the hot springs. When I arrived at Te Aroha I. vas suifering much from rheumatism, whieh prevented my sleeping at night, and made walking during the day a difficulty ; but from using No. 2 bath for a little over three weeks the pains have entirely left my head, and do not give any uneasiness in my feet; in fact, I may safely and truly say that at present I am complo jelv cured and ijreatly improved in health. —' Dr W. R. Fbson of Onehunga, Auckland. “ The analysis of the springs at Te Aroha, and the highly medicinal value of their constituents at once indicate a residence here, and a course of judicious treatment by the ‘ El Dorado’ for the majority of unfortun« ate sufferers in. most forms of rheumatism a out, a large namber of kidney affections, and last, but not least, that complaint which fiesh heir to—dyspepsia.
