STONEY GREEK PROSPECTING SYNDICATE.
MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS.
A most enthusiastic meeting of shareholders in the Stoney Creek Prospecting Syndicate was held in the Te Aroha Town Hall buildings on Wednesday evening last. The committee reported that the sample parcel containing 1 ton of quartz had been treated at Waiorongomai, and yielded 17dwts retorted gold. The shareholders expressed as satisfied with the return, being confident that only one-third of the gold had been saved. The assay yalue being l£oz per ton. A Works Committee, consisting of Messrs Gallager, Gavin, Knock, 1 and Pavitt were appointed to supervise the work. • . v-r r
The meeting further decided to call tenders for putting in a low level. Specifications are being prepared, and work will be put in hand as soon as possible; ' k'-V It was decided to apply for a lease of the ground, which contains about 30 acres,, and is bounded by the All Nations on the .north and the Morning Star on the south.As there was a demand for unoccupied shares, the clerk was instructed to sell the four,snares held in reserve at not less than £lO each. The money so derived to be spent in. developing the mine.
Tbe prospectors reported they had further .opened out the reef, which was carrying good gold. The.meetibg was very sanguine of success, arid decided to push on the work in hand with all possible speed.
