Particulars have been received of brisk fighting between sie French and accompany of bandits on the frontier of French Guiana and Brazil. * It appears that Dinner, the captain of a company of marines, demanded, under a flag of U truce, the release of- a Frenchman, who had been taken prisoner by the bandits. While negotiations were in progress the bandit chief .shot Dinner dead, and his followers simultaneously fired on the.marines. Severe fighting ensued, lasting for two hours, and ended in the complete defeat of the outlaws.- ■' The Frenchmen had five marines killed and twenty wounded; while tile bandits lest sixty of their -'number, besides having a large number, of wounded.
