WAITOA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Waitoa Koad Board took {place in the Board’s office last Saturday, all the members being present. Mr Chepmell was re-elected Chairman. A letter was received from Mr N. A. Larney calling.attention to a ditch, being blocked up by some one digging down, the bank of the ditch to get out a horse which had fallen into it.. The.
■matter will receive attention, but it was sufely the duty ; of the person who: filled in the ditchdo repair it. A letter was received from Mr P. A. Swney asking, extension of .time for completing contracts to the last Saturday in June. . The Board declined to grant any extension of time as instead of going on with his contracts he had been doing other work. A petition was received from Mr T. Stanley and other sixteen persons who have purchased parts of the Manawaru estate, praying the Board to undertake some road making* to let them get to their land. The Engineer was instructed to inspect and report on what is required. A' letter was received from Mr J. H. Flatt requesting the Board, to pi*ovide, or cause to be provided by. the County Council, a bridge crossing over the County road drain at its junction with the*.road on the west of his section (No. 3, Block XI, Aroha),. so as to giye him access to the back part of -section. . - .■ - The Board instructed the Clerk to inform Mr Flatt that it is usless to ask the County Council or any other local body to build a bridge across a drain to give him access to a road which is impassable. - •‘ . For the contract deepening Latimer’s drain the following tenders w6re received : A. Bossons, £ll 9s fW. Thomson, £9 17s; K. Flinn (accepted), Is 3d and lid. 7/ Vfi ' The Board decided to ' strike- a rate of a half-penny in the’.ppund - at• next meeting, and the collector was requested to take immediate proceedings for the recovery of unpaid rates.!
