Waihi Silverton.— The erection of this company’s new winding and pumping plant is proceeding very ' satisfactorily, and Mr Craig, of Auckland, the contractor for the delivery of . the machinery, etc., on the company's property, undoubtedly deserves commendation for the expedition made in carrying out his contract, despite exceeding bad roads. The pumping and the xyhole of the winding machinery have now been conveyed to their destination, where great activity is also being displayed in putting together the Various pieces as they arrive ; in fact, so vigorously 1 ave the construction of tho works been pushed ahead by the manager,’ Mr H. H. Adams, that the erection of the pumping machinery has been-completed, and as soon as the brick work, etc., is thoroughly dried and can stand the heat a fire Will be lighted and pumping commenced. It is, therefore, expected that in about' a fortnight’s time the .shaft'will be freed from water, , and operations .resumed in the mine. Mr J. A.
