CHARGES OF EMBEZZLEMENT Ckbistchubch, Monday Another information for embezzlement has been laid against the late city rate-collector. It is understood that up to the present deficiencies amounting to £230 have been discovered in his accounts. WI PERE AND HIS CREDITORS Gisbobne Monday In the Supreme Court this morning Judge Barton gave judgment in the ease of HcNieol Bros. v. Wi Pere, JVLH.R. He said he was of opinion, after carefully looking into the case and the authorities quoted,'“that an act of bankruptcy had been committed, and 'therefore he adjudged Wi Pere a bankrupt. On Mr Rees’ application, proceedings were stayed pending an appeal.
