THREE MEN MISSING. •' Reefton, Monday. -Great fears are entertained for the safety of Patrick Gillin and two other men who left the Twelve-mile, 1 Grey 'Valley,. three weeks ago lor Gillin’s station, Upper Grey, They; had only fourteen days' provisions, and a fierce gale has occurred since their departure. Search parties have gone put. Gillin is an old end respected Settler, and has a wife and grown-up family. DROWNING ACCIDENTS. Gisborne, Monday. : A young man named Walter Stewart, employed by Mr. Geo. .Ellis, of Pakarae, -was drowned when crossing the Waimiiko, a darigorous creek ten miles north of GisbOrne, ' ' Oitingaiti, Monday. ■ A young man named Tom Oollis was drowned cm Saturday afternoon in the Eang’itikei Hiver. He was with another man named Hinds in a canoe fixing a wire rope at the Bridge site at Mangaweka when the canoe filled. Clollis jumped, out to swim ashore but was washed over a rapid and drowned. Hinds got ashore .on the rope. The body of the deceased has not been found yet. ■ . A PITIFUL CASE. Lytteexon, Tuesday. A man named Henry Ryder, a wharf laborer,, expired suddenly at 11.40 yesterday. .He was engaged on the frozen meat van loading sheep into the steamer Aotea when he suddenly fell forward and died. He was an industrious steady man. Deceased leaves a widow and family. Ryder’s dinner was usually sent to him at the wharf, and a messenger was sent to turn back the little girl who generally took it. but on this occasion she came by another way and missed the messenger, but met the procession carrying the body of her father to the casual ivard. A very pitiful scene followed, the child feeing almost heart broken, .
