Ernest Liewellyn, pay-master of the Naval .forces and-accountant in the Marine Boai-d, was committed -for embezzling £6O, Government money. The accused confessed his guilt, and since then it has been found that the accounts were short by £2,250. He said the money was lost in unsuccessful speculation. BAYLEY’S REWARD MINE ' v * Perth, April 25. At a meeting* of shareholders .in Bayley’s Reward mine it was reported that gold had been obtained duriug the last half-year to the value of £60,000. Since the mine was opened two years ago £190,000 worth was obtained, of which £126,000 has been paid in dividends. Much better results may be expected when a proper water supply has been obtained, * VISCOUNT DRUMLANRIG ARRESTED ON A CHARGE OF INSANITY , New Yore, April 24. The newspapers here announce the arrest of Yiscount Drumlanrig, the eldest son of the Marquis of Queensberry, on a charge of insanity. It is alleged that the arrest was made in order to prevent his proposed marriage to a waitress in California.
