CRICKET. ENGLAND v. yiCTORIANS. VICTORY FOR VICTORIA v Melbourne, March 25. The match was resumed to-day and resulted in an easy win for the Victorians with seven wickets to spare. In the second innings the Englishmen were disposed of for 270, the additional highest scores being, Briggs 33, Ford 47, Richardson’ll, Gay, not out 24. The bowling and fielding of the Victorians was of a brilliant description. :/■ y --: The • 132 runs required to win were knocked up by the Victorians in a very short time with the loss of : only three wickets. Bruce carried his bat through for 72, made in first-class style, and Albert Trott ran up 44, the partnership between these two saw the score raised from 36 to 116, the century being hoisted as a result of: seventy-two minutes play.

GENERAL COLLIERY STRIKE IMPENDING ;

FATAL SHOOTING ACCIDENT.

Melbourne, March 25. A farm hand named Mould, residing at Scarne, fired at a dark object which in the dusk he took to be a duck, and shot a fellow employee named Kelly dead. The latter’s head was just appearing above the bank where he had been fishing. : /
