OHINEMURI.

(By our own Correspondent.) Paeroa, Thursday. - Matters here have b'een rather quiet since St. Patrick’s Day. There has not been such a rush on the Warden’s Court as there was last week, bat still there are a good few applications. Next Tuesday promises ,to be a very busy day at the Court as there are one or two important cases to be heard. At the .County Council meeting today seven more, contracts will be let for works on various parts of the County. The roads are in very good condition, and if we had somo rain to settle down tho large amount of metal that is being put down, there would be no fear for the traffic this winter.

The urgent need of a Public Hall is being very keenly felt in Paeroa, and it is a great pity that some enterprising individual does not see his way to putting up one. Tfib old Hall was in process of re-construction, but for some unaccountable reason tho work was stopped, and there is no sign of it being re-commenced I wish it were possible to have one of your two halls moved down here bodily. The railway bridge is progressing slowly but surely. Tho process of driving the piles is being, steadily proceeded with, and judging from tho quantity of timber being recently stacked close to where the station will be, I presume that tho work of its erection will ere long be commenced. The long spell of fine weather we have had has caused quite a dearth of water, the tanks and weiis being nearly all dry. The sight of no fewer than parsons in our streets for the last three days—Ee vs. Joughin, Norrie, and Evans, raised hopes that rain would be the inevitable result, but as yet it holds off, and the reverend gentlemen have returned to Te Arofia.
