TE AROHA BAND OF HOPE .
The ro-openjng of the Te Aroha Band of Hope took place in the Town Hall on Monday evening, the llthinst., and as is usual on such occasions the Hall was well filled. Rev T A. Joughin occupied the chair, and during the evening delivered a very stirring address. The various items on the programme were gone through, in a satisfactory manner, viz : Hymn; song, ‘ Dear Jack’s come home,’ Mr Mclndoe ; pianoforte duet, Misses Hirst and Bryers; recitation, ‘Brightly goes the Day,’ Miss G. Wallace; song, ‘ln happy Moments,’ Miss Bridson; recitation, ‘ The Curfew Bell,’ Miss Butcher; song, ‘ There was a little Man,’ Master J, Everitt; hymn; address, Mr Joughin; song, Master 11. Bennett; song; ‘Charity,’ Miss French; recitation, ‘Parson Jim,!. Master B. Bell; song, ‘ When other lips, ’ Miss Bridson; reading, ‘ Mrs Gimpins’ On Reform, ’ Mrs Blencowe ; hymn. At the close of the programme a number came forward and signed the pledge. The election of officers for the ensuing year was postponed till a' future occasion, a special meeting for which will be called.
