DARING BURGLARIES IN WELLINGTON. Wellington, Monday. On Saturday night Lieut. Colonel Newall’s residence was entered by burglars, who locked his bedroom door and stole his clothes, but were disturbed before they got much spoil. This morning a gang of four raided the house of Mr W. Field, captain of the Star Boating Club. Hearing them in the house, he chased them along Wellington Terrace barefooted, but on one presenting a revolver and threatening to fire, he desisted. The police were alarmed, but the men in the meantime disappeared. Theh had ransacked the house, but were enable to carry anything off. No clue has as. yet been obtained. •
