A lineman, after being in the water five hours, succeeded in getting a wire across, but as he was about to haul it clear of the water it caught in a snag and operations had to cease owing to darkness setting in. Efforts were to be made to get the wire hoisted clear of the water early to-day, and it is exp icted that communication will berestored this evening.
