Size.—l’lie dimensions allowed for . a parcel are : ft. in Greatest length 11 6 Greatest long* h and girth combined (i U For example: A parcel measuring 3ft Gin in length may measure as much as 2ft Gin in girth. A shorter parcel may bo thicker ; thus, if it measure only 3ft in length, if may be 3lt in girth round its thickest part. The weights and dimensions given above apply only lo parcels for places served by railway, coach, or steamboat. 4. For Places not Served by Railway, Coach, or Steamer. —To all places not served by railway, conch, or steamer,. omy parcels not exceeding olbs in weight, and not measuring more than 2ft in length, and Ift in breadth or depth may be accepted, and provided they are not of such a fragile nature as to prevent their being sent with safety in the ordinary mad bag. 5. Must be Prepaid.—The full postage must be prepaid by ordinary postage stamps, winch must be affixed by the sender or the person handing in the parcel. . Not to be Posted in Posting-box. Parcels exceeding lib ip weight are not to be posted in the posting-box, but. must be handed over the counter, or at the delivery-window ol the Post Office, to the proper officer, liy whom the size, weight, and postage will be checked before a parcel may be accepted. Parcels posted in the posting-box, unless admissible and fully paid at letter rate will be charged on delivery with a fine of Gd., in addition to any deficient pos'tage. This also applies to parcels posted in pillar aud other postingboxes., - ■ i 7. Prohibiled Parcels.—Parcels bearing, or containing writing or marks of an offensive or indecent character, or containing gunpowder cartridges, lucifer matches, or anything explosive or liable to combustion, bladders eon tainingliquid, live animals,grossly offensive or filthy matter, or any substance likely to cause injury to other parcels or to the officers of the Post Office, are prohibited. 8. What other Parcels may not contain. — parcels may not contain any letter or communication of the nature of a letter, money (coin or bunk notes), or a packet or parcel intended for delivery at an address other than that borne by tiie parcel itself. 12. Registered.—Parcels ipay* be registered nnder the same conditions as letters; and for an additional fee of 2d a receipt can be obtained*and posted to the sender, ENGLISH hAKGEL i'OriT. Rate of Postage.—For a parcel not exceeding 21bs in weight, Is 6d; for every additional pound or! fraction thereof, 9d extraPostage must be. fully prepaid by means or postage stamps affixed to the pra-cels. Insufficiently prepaid parcels will not be accepted. Limit of. Weight and Dimensions.—A parcel for transmission must not exceed lllbs in weight. 3ft Gin length, or 6ft in length and «?irth combined.
