Lord Rosebery said in a recent speech that the cession of Heligoland would dishearten British subjects throughout the world. PARKE PRAISED. London, July 11. Editor Parke, of the “ North London Press,” who has just been released from sentence for libelling Lord Euston, has been eulogised at the annual meeting of the Cobden Club. COLLAPSE OF A WHARF. Halifax (Nova Scotia), July 12. By the collapse of a wharf at Dartmouth, on the eastern side of the harbour, 100 persons were immersed, many of whom were drowned. ENGLAND AND FRANCE. London, July 12. Lord Salisbury is negotiating with France for the recognition of the English protectorate of the Zanzibar coast. He will probably admit the French rights from Lake Tchad to Algeria.
