Thk above body met at Cambridge on Saturday last, at 2 p.m. Present: Crs V/. P, Chepraell (Chairman), J. Mills, P, M. Brunskill, \V. L. C. Williams, and N. I. Hunt.

The minutes pr the special and ordinary

meetings, held on June 14th, were read and confirmed.

It having been pointed out that if the Auckland Agricultural Company fenced their land at Okoroire, the Oxford Matamata road would be virtually stopped ; it was resolved to ask the Company to keep open the rpud through their property fpr a period of six months, by which time the new road will be completed, Mr T. G. Sandes, County Engineer, bu{>~ mitted his report, which stated that Henare Jviritnpu was entitled t«» L 7 10s, for work done in the hush on the Oanif bridge-Taiiranga road ; that three tenders for the maintenance of the above road, for 6 months from the 14th inst., |md beep received, of whiph ho recommended the lowest being accepted, viz., Nn Te Kauri, Ll2 • that Mr Rose had repaired the approaches to the bridges at Oxford ; that lie (the engineer) bad arranged for any dangerous places on t]ie CainbridgeOxford p-i’d being made sale ; a portion of the Oxfoid-Matamatn road would require making, ns the proprietors of the Matamata estate are going to fencethe post would he about L 35 ; that lie jiafl again inspected the drain at Beiriri, and found that jip was mistaken when he stated th water had overflowed, the mouth of tlip drain had been made secure, and with the heqyy raffi of Wednesday the pipes were not fqli.

It was resolved to pay Henare Kiritapu tlw? L 7 10s ; to accept |'e Kauri’s tender of Ll2 ; that tenders be called for the making of the rqad from the avenue gate to Mauqgakawa, on the Oaipbridge-Tnu-pinga rqad.—The report was adopted. Re Stoats apd Weasels: The Minister of Lands, wrote, stating that the Government hud to consider the interests of the Colony as a whole in reaped to the introduction of these apimals, apd therefore could not rescind the Order in Council protecting them, or cease importing more of their kind, The Chairman thought it was the large run-holders that, were being studied, and not th° Colony at large.

The next meeting of th<? Council was fixed for Saturday, August 'JSrd. Mr L. J. Bugntill, of Ynw, "'rote, under date July 14th : Yon will police hy advertisement that the *‘'l harpea Harbour Board} Bill”isahoiit tobe introducedtoßarlhuuent. It provides amongst other things the. Board shall have control of a portion of the VVai on near its month, and which would practically give the Unrhoiir Board control of the navigation of the river. Jt airy,*, provides that your Council shall he represented on the Board On behalf of the settlers on that portion of the river proposed to he taken, 1 am directed to ask your Council’s assistance in preventing any portion of either the Waihou or Piako rivers, being included in tlie control of the TRames Harbour Board. The Clerk reported that no objection had been received to the list of proposed alterations to the Yahtation Roll, as submitted at the last meeting. The alterations were ordered to be. made.

The following applications for alterations of the Valuation lioll were received: J,. P, Murray, to have W... 5, Allen inserted as owner of Seotion 2<42, Waihongi; Robt, Canpell, to have Ips name erased, as he bad abandoned Section 1, Block 10, Te Aroha ; Brett an d Co.. x to, have J. Ingram inserted lor Section f, Btl.ock 6, Te Aroha; J. Mott, to have Brett and. 00, inserted for Section 62, Lipsey’s Block, Te Aroha ; Elizabeth Ilott, to have John A. Cocltrane inserted for Section 18, Lipsey's Block, Te Aroha.-Tho Clerk was instructed to take tjie necessary steps to «\ake the alterations as desired. The Wnifceio Hospital and Charitable Aid Board requested immediate payment qf a portion of the Council’s contribution. It was resolved to renp,it one fourth of of the total amount forthwith,. The Crown Lands Board notified the Council that a further su,m of L 22% Id, had accrued to the Council from Perpetual Liases.

Mr Ravitt stated that a set of pipes were greatly needed on the Thames-Waikato road pear the Nottingham Castle Hotel, at Morrinsyjllp, to tmiry the water off, —He Was aptliorispd to get the work done. Atteptiop having been directed to the bad state of the Te Archa- Waioropgomni road, it was resolved to cull for tenders for supplying and spreading about 100 yards of metal op the above road, and Cr Mills was authorised to open and accept such tenders, Cr Mills said he understood that Messrs Coates and Metcalf had purchased Mr Coulthard’s flax.uiill, near Te Aroha, and purposed starting six strippers. He was pleased to have the industry enlarged, but us the roads were ip a had state through carting flax for two strippers, lie could not help hut think that, with six they would become imputable.
