THE STORM KING AT ALBANY

A REMARKABLE VOYAGE,

Captain Jorgensen, with his companion, Neilson, arrived at Albany on Tuesday last at 8 p.m., after a marvellous voyage in tho lifeboat Storm King. They left London on September 12th. The dimensions of the boat are—length, 30ft; depth, 4ft. 6in ; width, Bft 6in ; tonnage, 6 tons. A heavy gale was encountered off the Bay of Biscay. They landed at Madeira on October 2, and remained there a few days; left Madeira for Pernambuco, where they arrived on the 2l»t Kpyenjber. There they stayed two days, apd left again fpr Cape Town, arriving thero on March ?st, Here they stayed Bjr weeks, recruiting after sijf months at sea. After leaving the Capo, when south of Madagascar, in lat, 40, the Storm King encountered a cyclone, out of which the frail craft came safe and sound, strengthening the skipper’s belief in the soundness of his vessel. A second cyclone was met with just after. The only vessel sighted botween the Cape and Cape Leuwin was ppoken in 39deg. 8., 68. E., viz., the American barque Adam Space, bound for Melbourne. A heavy gale was encountered off Cape Leuwin. Land was sighted at midnight on Sunday; To add to the difficulties of tho cruise, the chronometer stopped on June 10th, and the watches on board had also stopped previously, so that Captain Jorgenson was unable to work the longitude, and from this to Albany the course was worked by dead reckoning. The boat is constructed In three sections, and could be lengthened if required. The Storm King leaves for Adelaide in a fortnight. She will be shipped over, as it would take a month to sail thither. Captain Jorgensen lost only 71b during the voyage. Both he and his mate looked remarkably well.
