Wool, hides, and skins : Average quantities met steady competition at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and there remained an unsatisfied demand for extra heavy ox hides. At Romuera, on Thursday, dairy cows were at late values, goed ones at their profit making from £3 to £slss. Fatcattle were in usual numbers, 270 being sold. Steers were better worth, selling at fully 18s the 1091 b, while fat cows were dull of 3alo at from 12s to 14s the 1001 b. An average of sheep were yarded, and sold irregularly, wethers making from 13s 6d to 19s td; fat ewes, 13s; the advertised ewes. 11s 6d. Binney & Sons’ Report.— On Tuesday last, hides, sheepskins, tallow, bones, etc., sold freely under gco.l competition. Stout ox are in demand and sell readily, but large thin ox are not wanted, except at cow hide value. We cleared a n extra large catalogue at the following prices: Ox, 3)d to 3:,‘d ; steer, 2jd to 3d ; cow, lid to ljd ; damaged, -id to Id per lb. This we quote as fair market value; picked heavy weights exceed the quotations by over a penny, but as the numbers are small they cannot be taken as any guide to the state of the market. Calf and kips are wanted, calf up to 4Jd and kips 2d to 3d per lb. Sheepskins: Late figures well maintained throughout; local green sold up to 5s 6d, picked few. 63 2d ; cross bred, 4s to 4s lOd; country, dr/, 5d to sid per lb. Our principal sales were, 75 at bs 6d, 84 at 4s lOd, 66 at 4s Bd, 121 at 4s 6d, 57 at 4s sd, £5 at 4s Id. Tallow: In short supply, and all sold at satisfactory figures. Messrs Arthur and Budole’s Meekly Report.— Seven sales by auction have been lie d this week; all have been well attended, and good prices obtained. The supply of produce has not been large. Potatoes for the table, of good quality, could have been disposed of in larger quantity- Onions: Stocks have been light; not a great demand- Vegetables: A good supply: fair demand. Bacon: Wellcured and nicely got up is in demand. Cheese of good quality is wanted. Butter: Good samples of fresh have sold well. Salt is slow of sale, even the beet samples. Inferior lots are almost unsaleable. Honey is quiet; stoelc light. Fruit: Local apnios have brought good prices. Lemons to hand hxvc been small. A shipment of Sydney oranges brought fair prices.
