MINING NEWS.

Thames, July 2. MaritotoG. andS.M. Co.—The manager of this mine arrived at Grahamsbown last evening from Paeroa, with 1,730 ounces of bullion, being the result of a second cleaning up at tho Company's reduction plant. The yield is the product of 50 tons of second-class argentiferous and half a bon of first-class stuff. The bullion from the previous month's return was worth 8s per ounce, but this should be of little better quality. New Moanataiart.— The load in the Cambria shaft at No. 3 level has been greatly knocked about by flatheads and clay cross seams. Gold has, however, been freely seen through the quartz, and the dirt is shaping better at the battery. The Reuben Parr reef still maintains its promising appearance, 201 b of picked stone being secured last week. Tho return this month will not be so large as formerly, in consequence of the surface dirt being poor and the picked stone nob of quite as good quality. Norfolk (Tararu). Driving has been continued on the California reef, and prospecting has been - Carried on in the cross-lode. Tho reef east still looks remarkably well, and keeps an average size of three feet. If the reef changes to a little softer ground the manager states he is sure of getting a good run of gold. A new reef has come in which should junction shortly. This reef is four feet wide, and a vein in the centre prospects well. Driving will bo commenced on this reef.

Prince Imperial.— The ground shows a little improvement. At last breaking down the stone showed dabs and colours of gold. Silvekton (Waihi). —Stoping west of the winze is proceeding, and very good ore is now being obtained. V\ oodstock United (Ivarangahake). The water has driven the tributers out of No. 2 winze, so they have started a level on a lodo which is six inches thick and prospects well. Some of the poorest looking ore assayed at a value of £22 per ton. Freedom. —During the past week 15 feet have been driven in the eastern drive, making a total distance of 152 feet. Another 15 or 20 feet should bring the drive to the junction of the three leaders in the crosscut, and tho manager anticipates obtaining a good haul of rich stone. Gold is showing where the footwall leader junetioned at the main crosscut. Ttenton. —The leader at No 2 lode is more compact and carries excellent mineral.
