In letters to the “ Times,” Mr Hennike r Heaton eulogises the enterprise shown by Queensland in reserving the right to ob tablish a penny post to Great Britain by th® British India Steam Navigation Company’s steamers.
The American House of Representatives has decided that the action of the Speaker in referring the Silver Bfll to the Coinage Committee, owing to the insertion of a money clause by the Senate, was erroneous, and in coneequence a deadlock has arisen. General Booth has requested the directors of the Crystal Palace to cover the uude statues on the occasion of the coming monster visit of tho Salvation Army. Tho public are protesting against this. It is said that the directors admit that the statues aru indecent, and that when uncovered they inflict an improper exhibition on the public.
