Auckland, June 14. Messrs Hunter & Nolan’s Weekly Report.—Horsefeed, seed, grain, etc. There has been an ample supply and steady demand with little or no alteration in value. We quote: Oats, at from Is lid to 2s Id per bushel; • maize, 3s; bran, £3 los to £4 per ton ; oaten chaff, £2 10s to £2 15s per ton ; carrots, £1 10s to £2 7a 6d per ton. Horses: Animmensenumberhasbeen brought forward, and a good demand has existed, and a good many changed bands at fully the previous week’s value. A good many were entered for sale by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday; competition was good throughout the sale, and almost without exception, lots were cleared. We quote : Hacks, at from £4los to £1010s: medium draught and light harness, £slos to £ls: unbroken colts, £8 to £ll 10s. Wool, hides, skin, tallow, etc. Average quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. Heavy ox hides continue in unsatisfied demand; for other descriptions the supply was adequate, A good many skins have been brought forward, and were in brisk demand. We quote: Stout ox hides, 4dto 4Jdperlb; medium, 3d to4d; light and cow, lid to 2Jd ; calfskins, 2Jd to 4Jd per lb; butchers’ skins, 4s Id to 5s 7d each ; country skins, Is 5d to 3s 9d; lambskins, 4s Id to 4s 4d ; tallow, 18s3d per cwt. Cattle of all descriptions have been brought forward in numbers sufficient for requirements. There has been an upward tendency in values of fat slock, while stoies and dairy cows maintained the previous week’s values. The pens were well iilled at Newmarket on Tuesday, and there was also a good muster at Pukekohe on Wednesday, and spirited bidding was the rule at both places. We quote: Calves, 10s to 19s 6d; yearlings, from 17s 6d to 265; eight month and two-year-old steers, from £llos to £2 103; grown steers, from £2 15s to £4; dry cows, from £llos to £2 10s; dairy cows, from £3 15s to £6 each: beef, from 15s to 17s 6d per lOOlbs. Some averages of fat steers were : £7 7s 3d, £7. ± 6 ss, £5 17s Gel, £5 15s, £5 8s; cows ; £4 10s, £4 6s 3d, £4 2s 6d, £4, £3 15s, £3 12s 6d, £3. Sheep : There was a good muster at the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday, competition was good throughout the sale, and there was an upward tendency in value. Wethers sold at from lie 6d to 16s 9d each; mixed sexes. 10s to 16s 9d; merino wethers. 9s; lambs, 9s 3d to 11s. Pigs, in very short supply. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Son’s Redor'.—At the Haymarket, during the past week, prices have been steady at previous quotations : loose hay and oaten sheaves have ranged from 2a 6d to 3s per cwt; maize, from 2s 8d to 3s Id ; wheat, 3s: oa s, Is lOd and Is lid the bushel have been the prices obtained. At the horse sale on Friday- the number entered for sale whs less than usual; they were in fair demand, and for all useful broken horses good competition : Prices for active medium draught ranging from t'9to£l3; a strong buggy horse, £1412s 6d ; two unbroker, draught mares, £ls 5s each; light harness, from £5 and upwards ; and a dray, £S. At the Waiuku sale on Saturday the yards were tilled with cattle of all classes, and obtained a steady demand throughout the sale at satisfactory prices. On Tuesday an unusually large muster of hides and skins were sold ; hides were firm at previous quotations, skins advanced slightly. Heavy oxhides bought from 4d to43d ; medium, 3d to33d ; light ox and cow hides, front IJd to 2;id ; calfskins, 3d to 4id the lb; butchers sheepskins, 5s lOd to 3s; station skins, Is 6d to 2s': lamtakins, 2s Id to 2s 5d each ; tallow, 17s 3d to 18s the cwt. At Remuera, oh Thursday-, dairy cows of good quality were in request at from *:4 to £5 each. Store cattle sold freely, particularly steers of all classes. Fat cattle plen'iful. Prices were steady at 16s the 10015 for ox beef, but cows and coarse steers were lower in price. Fat calves, in full numbers, kept their values throughout the sale. Store sheep in fair inquiry. Crossbred ewes brought from 10sto7s; two-tooth ewes, 12s each. Fat sheet) sold irregularly, and some were withdrawn. Those sold kept their values —wethers, 13s 6d to 17s ; ewes, its to 14s each Pigs were also yarded in ftul numbers. Wellbred bacon pigs brought from 45s to 60s; porkers, 20s to 275. Coarse pigs sold better titan for many weeks, bringing from 6s to 15s each. Above 300 sold.

Binney and Sons’ Report.— At auction and privately, we cleared a large catalogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, etc. Competition is good for all classes of hide?, more so as regards stout ox. Medium do not show any improvement. We quote : Prime picked, 5d to old; heavy stout. 4id ; heavy, 3id; heavy cow, 2d to 2jd ; medium, lid to lid; light, lijd to 2d; kips, 2jd to 3d; calf, 3-Id to 4.id; wet and damaged, ijd to lid per lb. Sheepskins cleared at satisfactory prices—some of the principal lines were : 90 longwools, 5s 3d ; 69 crossbreds, 4s lid; 39 ditto, 4s 8d ;53 ditto, 4s 3d : 60 ditto, 4s lOd; 64 half breds, 3s lOd; 38 merino, 3s 2d ; 42 crossbreds, 4s 7d : 32 ditto, 4s 2d: 60 half breds, 3s 2 » ; several lines of picked exceeded those values, dry skins sold from 5d to sjd per lb. Wool: Small lots sold at full values. Tallow : Best. 16s to 18s ; medium, 13s to 15s; inferior, 6s to 10s ; rough fat, l.]d per lb ; bones. 4s 6d to 4s 9d per cwt. Potatoes ; OaniHru, £3 15s ; Waitara and Canterbury, £3 to t'3 ss; local, according to quality, from £2 to £3 per ton.
Messrs Arthur andßuddi.e’s Weekly Report.—There have been nine sales by auction this week. There ha 9 been a fair supply of produce of all kinds. Potatoes : Stocks are lighter, but no improvement in prices. Onions have not been very brisk. Fresh batter has advanced in price ; supply not equal to the demand. Salt butter in limited demand, only first-class will sell. Good dairy-fed bacon is wanted ; supply far below the requirements. Good cheese moved off ireely, stocks light. Honey is quiet, a fair quantity to hand to-day. Fruit: Arrivals of Sydney oranges, and bananas, etc., from Fiji. A large quantity of local-grown apples, most of them very fine samples, and sold at good prices. A fair number of lemons; prices ruled low. A few locally grown oranges sold well. No pears were entered ; there was a good demand. Poultry : A fair supply of fowls, and the prices were much better. A fair number of turkeys entered. The prices were satisfactory. No ducks or geese: they were wanted. Pigs: Only a few small rough ones entered, and these sold well. There was an inquiry for good ones. The white Yorkshire advertised did not come to hand. Flax: None to hand. Household furniture, etc, have brought good prices. Mr Alex. Aitkbn’s Market Report —A satisfactory amount of business has been done, and auction sales have been Jargely attended with keen competition. Potatoes have been in very short supply, there has been a good demand for prime lots, these hove fetched £3los ; Southern. £4 to £4 10s: Hawera, £3 10s to £4; poor and inferior, local, 30s to 60s; Shepherd’s seed. £5 ; kidney seed, first-class, £4; others, £2 to £3: onions in fair supply, there is a marked improvement in this fine, prime lots have made and the market is bare, poor lots, Id; pumpkins are a glut, at Is 6d to 33; mangolds fetched Is 2d; carrots, 2s to 2s 6d; piemelons, Is to 2s; chaff, Is to Is 6d per sack; oats, short feed. 2s co 2s 3d; other lots, Is 9d; bran, 4s; sharps, 4s 9d; flour, 9s to 10s ; bacon and hams are coming to hand in good quantities, and have moved freely at lower prices, very c oice and unsmoked. 7d to 7jd; other lots, 5d to6}d; hams, prime, 7d to 8d : others, 5d to 6d; butter shows an improvement, and the prospects are good, fresh has been in shorter supply at 8d to lOd; Taranaki roll, 8d; Jubilee factory roll. Is; prime Taranaki > orned, 7jd; poor, sd; pastry, 4d; good keg butter, 7d, in demand beyond supply; poor, 3',d to 4d; eggs in fair supply/' fresh. Is 6d to Is 8d; pickled. Is to Is 2d. Honey : A large line of section quitted at 3Jd; bulk dull at. 2d to 2sd; small tins dull at 3d. Cheese of good quality is rather scarce; poor lots, 2d to 21d; prime farmers’ mild, 34d to 4d : factory, 4d to 4id: loaves, sid. In fruit there has been a large supply of apples, mostly of good quality. Best lots have made 2d to 23d; inferior, lid to 13d. Lemons in veryshort supply: good, 9d to Is; small, 5d to 7d. Pears, cooking, 2id, Bananas: A large quantity arrived per Arawata to a poor market, and realised from |d to Id per lb. Oranges all cleared st 5d to 8d per dozen; cocoanuts, 8s; peanuts, 3d. In the poultry department the usual large quantities were entered, and met with satisfactory demand. Good table fowls realised Is 5d to 2s each; poor and inferior, lOd to Is: medium lots, Is to la 3d; roosters, young, in condition. Is 8d to 2s 2d; small, etc., Is 2d to Is 6d; pure-bred fowls, various, 2s to 10s each; ducks. Is 6d to 2s 6d each: geese, 4s 3d: peafowls. 4s 6d; turkeys (entered in large numbers), 2s 3d to 5s each. Pigs: In fair numbers; best lots realised 10s to 12s each; others, 5s 6d to 9s 6d each. Rabbits : In fair quantity, although far short of demand. Prices have ruled from Is to Is 6d per pair.
