THE TRIUMPH OF FAITH.

This is an age when faith, ’twixt two extremes Of pious fraud and callous unbelief, Might well be jeopardised! but God, it seems. Still makes His truth stand out in bold relief 'Gainst prejudice and error. Ask those tyhose hearts Have felt the raptures of redeeming grace Whether the ’reverent Agnostic’s arts, In eloquence or song, could e’er displace What His Almighty Spirit hath inwrought? Love passeth knowledge, and that Love of Thine. My God and Saviour, with such bliss is fraught, J fain would level in its charm benign, And sing, as once in days of youthful glee, ** Ere I with death shake hands, and smile that I am free." ’Tis not in sumptuous ritual alone Where Thou art worshipped. In the lowliest home. In rustic cot and shanty may be found Thy truest worshippers, albeit unknown To fame or fortune—those whoso love is shown In deeds of Christ-like charity and worth. All earth to such is consecrated ground, Though far removed from sacred shrine or fane! In forest-aisles Thy praises will resound. And there w efeei Thy power in the dearth Of all companionship save that with Thee ; Even as grazing on the boundless main We realise in part a majesty Veiling the glories here we may not see! . - . / A.
