The following are full details of the running taken from Sydney papers to hand today : Royal Stakes, a handicap sweepstakes of ssovs each, with flOOsovs added: second horse 75sovs, and the third horse 2osovs from the prize. 6 furlongs. Mr E. E. A. Oafcley’s ch f Little Lady, by .Julian Avenel-Tiara, 3 years, 6sb (J. Egan) ... ... ... ..; ... 1 Mr T. Lamond ns ch c Gresford, by The Drummer—LaMuette, 2 years, 7st4lb (E. Gallagher), Gaytime, Miss Thirza, Messenger, Magnus, - Paris, Pastmasber (Priest), Victor Hugo, Souvenir, Bustler, Little Bernie, Nero, Alexander, Second Thought, Rex and Gesundheifc. Betting : 4 to 1 v. Paris, 10 to 1 each v. Victor Hugo and Pet Girl, 12 to 1 each v. The Gift, Nonsense, and Gresford, 20 to 1 each v. Magnus, Little Lady, Messenger, and Bustler, 25 to 1 v. others. From the stand the start appeared to bb a good one, and among the smartest on their legs were Gresford, Paris, Nero, and Little Lady, while Pastmaster, Messenger, and Nonsense also gob well away. After a furlong and a half had been travelled, Gresford and Paris were well clear of Victor ’

Hugo, Messenger, Little Lady, Pastmaster, and Nonsense, while the others were running in a cluster, headed by Magnus', Gaytime, and Miss Thirza. The two leaders held their own into the straight, and Paris, in the centre, was the first to turn the home corner, but he was tiring fast, and Gresford cut him down before the distance, but had hardly done so when Little Lady, followed closely by Victor Hugo and Nonsense, dashed up on terms, and passing the beaten favourite called upon Gresford to finish. Little Lady, who answered evei-y call right gallantly, gob on terms with Gresford when inside the half distance, and a great race took place between the pair right up to the post, ending in favour of the Warwick filly by a head. Nonsense, who finished very fast, was a length and a-half away third. Antelope was never prominent, and Alexander fell at the turn for home. Time, lmin 18sec. SYDNEY BIRTHDAY CUP.~““ HILDA AND ANTELOPE RUN BADLY. Sydney, May 31. The following was the result of the race for Tiie Queen’s Birthday Cup, a handicap Eweepstakes of 6sovs each, with 750sovs added ; second horse, lOOsova ; and the third horse 50sovs from the prize. Payten’s br g Insigna, 4yrs, 6st 91b (McAuliffe) 2 Magnus, 7st 31b (Doolan) 3 Twenty-five horses started. The betting at the post was : 4 to 1 each against Insigna and Swing, 6 to 1 Hilda, 12 to 1 Tartar and Magnus. Only a moderate start was effected, Swing and Tartar being the last to move. After traversing five furlongs, Insigna had a slight lead, but on entering the straight Magnus was on terms with him, and Eclipse was close up. At the distance Magnus was done with, and Eclipse challenging Insigna gradually w-ore him down, and won by a length. Antelope was last. Hilda was never pro® minenb in the race. Time, 2min 26£see. [Eclipse, the winner, previous to Saturday, was a poor performer. He ran six times last season, but did not gain a winning bracket. At the A. J. C. Meeting in April last with 6sb in the saddle, he ran second to Eveline in theCicy Handicap. Eclipse is trained by Mr T. Laraont.]
