Entertainment at Waiorongomai.
On Wednesday evening last an entertainment held in the Public Hall, Waiomiigoinni, proceeds to provide funds to pay off arreasof rent of the Public Hall, in connection with Wesleyan Church services held therein. There was a really good attendance on the occasion, all the seats being occupied, quite a number Being present from Te Aroha and adjacent districts. Rev J. Law presided, and in opening the proceedings, briefly explained the object for which the entertainment had been got up, and alsoexpressed himself as being greatly pleased that so many friends had responded to help them out of their financial difficulties.,. The following is a copy of the programme provided for the occasion :—Duet, piano, Joyous Lays for Happy Hours, Misses Nixon ; song, (comic, in character), Coinin’ Tlirdr The Rye, Miss Y.. Pavitt; sonar, Father Q’Flynn, Mr Smales ; recitation, King Volmer and Elsie, Miss C. Nixon;.song, The Beggar Child, Mrs Darby; idoling, Dora, Rev J. Law ; song, Tbe Irishman, Mr W. F. Hunt; soiig (in character), Darby aqd Joan, Miss Hon d Interval of ten. minutes. Duet, Hunting Tower, Mrs Darby and Mr W. F. Hunt; song, Milly’s Faith, Miss Hirst-; dialogue, Tom Mason’s Rescue, Messrs Simmonds, Wild, Johnson, Barker, and Miss C. Nixon ; duet, piano and violin, La Traviata, Miss Hould and Mr Smales ; song, Miss V. Pavitt; reading, Rev J. Law; song, Waiting, Miss Wainwright ; song, Golden Sunshine, Mr Smales. The several items on the programme were really well rendered, several being, deservedly and altogether the gathering, was a most successful one. - At the conclusion of the programme, on the motion of Mr S. L. Hirst, seconded by Mr W. Hetherington, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded all who had taken part in the entertainment and contributed towards the success of the evening. The Chairman in patting the vote to the meeting said too much,praise could hot be given to Mrs Darby and Miss Nixon for the trouble they had gone to in arranging for the concert.. On the motion of Mr Smales a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the chair.
' The National Anthem was then sung and the meeting dispersed.
