The 'Long Life Elixir’ Again.
The Paris correspondent of the ‘ !>ai!y j Telegraph ’ writes : —We are beginning to hear again about the ‘ long life elixir discovered by Dr. Brown - Scquard. The learned doctor astonished, and even amused, the scientific, world some twelve months siuce by his assertions to the effect that he had discovered a way of recuperating exhausted vital forces, and consequently of prolonging human life. This was by injecting a fluid procured from certain parts of healthv animals into feeble frames. He began on himself, and suffered atrocious agony for a time, but afterwards became alert, active, and vigorous, being able to advocate and defend his theories before cynical colleagues of tho Academy of Medicine with an energy that surprised them. Some doctors in I aris have now followed his directions, and they assert that nearly all their experiments in the employment of the ‘ Elixir Vitas have been productive of absolutely successful results. Three elderly men who were utterly used up, battered, and ' knocked, out oi time ’ have been thoroughly revivified. One of them, who was bed-ridden, has become quite active, while tho others, who were less feeble, are able to prance about as. if they were thirty years under their leal ages. It is said that the injections only bogin to produce good effects after a month, but in the case of patients whose blood is vitiated the experiments may prove perilous. Care must also be 1 akemfco select only sound and healthy animals. Those who ure in favour of Dr. Brown-Sequard’s treatment here lament loudly that tho savant’s fellowcountrymen are still cynical with respect to the ‘Elixir,’ whereas it has been tried with success abroad. They are, therefore, endeavouring to get up an agitation in his favour.
