DEATHS UNDER CHLOROFORM.

Another death tyhilsfc under chloroform took place at the Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, on Monday afternoon of last week. A little girl named Kate Gollan,seven years of age, who has until recently been residing with her parents at Lismore, Richmond River, was suffering from abscesses, and it was necessary that an operation should be performed. Dr. Twynam superintended the adminis* tration of the chloroform, and succeeded in completing the operation by 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Shortly afterwards the patient’s breathing appeared to cease, and means were instantly adopted to restore animation, unfortunately without success. This is the third death which has taken place at this institution under similar circumstances during the last month.
