O’BRIEN’S NEW NOVEL.

William O’Brien’s novel, which he wrote while in prison, has just been issued. The book, which is entitled “ When We Were Boys,” is a historical story and deals with the Fenians. A number of IrishAmerican characters are brought into the plot. The book has been well received, and the reviewers have treated it solely on its merits, without the slightest reference to the political character of the work or the political leanings of its author. The “Daily News” regards it as the equal of the best writings of Lever, and the “ Pad Mall Gazette” expresses the opinion that it will impress English people with full confidence in the dignity characterising the new Irish era.
