Messrs A. Buckland and Sons’ Weekly Report.— At the Haymarket during the past week the sales have resulted as follows Fodder, 2s 3d to 2s 6d per cwt; oats, Is lOd to 2s Id ; maize. 3s Id to 33 2d: wheat, 2s 9d to 3s: rye grass, 3s 9d to 5s 9d; cocksfoo\ 6s 9d per bushel; oaten chaff, £3loa; potatoes, £2 5s per ton. On Friday horso stock, yarded in full numbers, obtained an advance over Into values; prices for useful stock ranged from £8 to £l4 each, and a large number sold. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday there was an increased quantity offered; all buyers were present, and full values obtained; best heavy ox brought up to 5Jd per lb; ordinary ox, 3d to 4£d; cows’, lid to 2d; calves’, 3gd to 4gd per lb; butchers’ skins, 3s 6d to 4s 9d; station skins. Is 6d to 4seach; tallow, 16s to 21s 6d per cwt; bones, £4los to £4 12s 6d per ton. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were in better inquiry, and advanced in price about 10s each: store cattle wore also in demnnd at a slight advance; fat cattle, in less than usual numbers, were from 15s to 17s 1001 b; heavy oxen at lower value than last week, but medium weights kept last week’s prices; fat calves, in short supply, sold well; fat sheep, in less than average number, sustained a further decline in prico of about Is; good wethers ranged from 11s to 15s; ewes, 8s to 10s 6d : shorn lambs, 8s 6d and 9s each ; pigs plentiful; those of good quality kept their late values, but coarse pig 3 of alt classes were very low in price. Messrs Hunter & Nolan’s Weekly Report. —Horso feed, grain, seeds, etc.; There has been a continuous demand and ample supply. The quality of oats has varied n good deal, and there has been a corresponding difference in price. Wc quote; Oats, ls'lOd to 2s 3d §er bushel; maize, 3s: barley, 2s 6d to 2s lOd ; ran, £4los ; pressed hay. £3los to £4 ; carrots, £3 per ton. Horsos: The demand has been brisk, and all those of a stamp found readv purchasers at the previous week's values. There was barely the usual muster at the Durham Yavds on Friday. Competition was good throughout. We quote: Hacks, from £4 10s to £9 10s; light harness and medium draught. £4 15s to £l6. Atthc special sale of the surplus horses held at the tram stable. Epsom, there was a large attendance of buyers, and bidding was very brisk throughout the sale. Prices ranged from £3 to £ls ; and an average of £5 123 was given. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, etc.: Average quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. For really heavy hides prices continued in favour of vendors, and other sorts were in steady demand. Wellwcolled sheepskins were keenly competed for, and there remained an unsatisfied demand. We quote: Heavy ox hides. 4)d to 5Jd per lb; medium. 3d to 4}d ; light and cow. lijd to 2id ;• calfskins, 2d to 4id ; sheepskins, 3s lOd to 4s 8d each ; lambskins, 3s 6d to 4s 2d; country skins and pelts, 2s 2d to 3s Id. Cattle: The demand has been steady for all descriptions, and no noteworthy alteration in value. There was an average muster of all descriptions at Newmarket on Tuesday, and also at Pukckohe on Wednesday. All descriptions were well competed for. Fat beasts barely maintained the previous week’s values. There was no alteration in dairy stocks. Stores were keenly competed for, and prices were in favour of the vendors. Some averages of fat steers were: £7 2s 6d, £6 15s, 1 6 7s 6d, £6, £5 los, £slos, ranging from 13s to 17s per 1001 b. Cows: £3lss, £3 23 6d, £3, £2 15s, being from 12s to 143 per 1001 b. Sheep were fairly represented at Newmarket on Tuesday, and met steady demand, a considerable number out of the butchers’ pens being bought by tho grazier.?. Wethers at from 133 to 14s 3d; mixed sexes. 10s 9d to 12s; store merino wethers, 8s 3d; ewes, 5s 6d, Fat wethers sold at from 13s 3d to 17s; ewes, 10s 2d to 14s 9d. Pigs were in moderate numbers, and wero in good demand at from 2d to 3d per lb live weight. Messrs Arthur and Buddle's Weekly Report.— Nine sales have been held by auction this week. Tho attendance has been good and large business done. Potatoe s arc still a drug at low prices. Growers have held back too long. Southerners arc in the market. Onions have moved off a little more freely. CheeßO in fair demand if good. Butter: A large supply of fresh. Low prices ruled. Corned butter: Limited demand; difficult to get off; inferior any price. Bacon: A good demand for wellcured and nicely got up; second-class. at low value. Honey: But little to hand. Grain, etc., moves oft slowly. Fruit: The supply of local is much decreased; good samples sell well. Bananas overstocked. price 3 very low. Poultry: A large supply of fowls, but the demand was limited, none required for shipping; pricos ruled very low. Ducks in good supply and sold well; geese, none; turkeys, but few entered, prices good. Pigs : A good supply, many were rough, prices were fairly good. Household furniture, etc., has sold well. Flax: Onlyasmall lot of inferior to hand; this brought a fa’r prico. We have sold as follows, giving the lowest and highest prices Fowls, for killing, lOd to Is; chicks, 8d to Is 2d; in bad condition, 8d to 104; Plymouth Rocks, Is 8d to 2s 4d; Houdans, 2s Id: Brahmas, Is 7d to 2s 3d; turkeys, 3s 9d to 4s; ducks, Is 8d to ~2s 8d; pigeons, lOd; small pigs, 4s to 93 3d; potatoes, Is 2d to 3s; onions, Is 2d to Is 8d and 4s to 63 ; Southern onions, 3s to 5s 3d; pumpkins, 2s Id to 4s Id; cabbages, Is Id to 3s 8d; citron melons, 2e 6d to 2s lOd; piemelons, 2s 9d; carrots, BJd to Is 4Jd doz,; parsnips. Is 3d; turnips, 6J doz., 2s 9d per cwt.; kumeras, 3s to 6s 4d ; rhubarb. 2s 3d to 5s 6d ; new bacon, 5d to 7d; hams, sid to 8d; ro’l. 24 to 3Ad : o'd, 3d to 6d ; cheese, 2id to 4d; fresh butter, 3Jd to 5Jd ; stale, 2d to 3d; sharps, 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; bran, 3s 9d to 4s; wher t, 3s to 3s 2d; chaff, 4s cwt.; oats, 2s to 2s 3d; barley, 2s; biscuits, 4d; lollies, 41d; honey, 3d to 3Jd; apples, lid to 2d; pears, ltd to 3Jd ; lemons, 4d tol2Jd; quinces, lid: persimmons. Mr Alex. Aitken’s Report.—Three sales of Sroduce. fruit, and poultry, and one of property, ave been held. All well attended, with satisfactory results. Potatoes continue very plentiful, at still lower values. Good quantities have been quitted, but very heavy sticks are being held for an improvement. Onions were quitted in good quantities at a better average value. All supp’ios cleared at Jd to 3d higher; inferior, 2s 6d to 3s. Wheat plentiful at 3s. Fair quantities quitted. Maize in demand. None to hand. Oats: Local dull, at Is 6d to Is lOd. Bran. 43 to 4s 6d; sharps, ss. Pumpkins: Good. 3s 3d to 4s: others. Is to 2s 6d. Pie melons. 2s 6d to 3s: citrons, 3s 6d to 4s 9d; kunieras. 6s. Bacon and hams: The favourable state of the weather lias brought bettor supplies in all lots; sold at 6d to 7d for bacon, and 6d to 8d for hams. Cheese has mot with better demand at improved prices. Market bare at 31d to 41d for prime farmers’, and 4d to 4Jd for factory; loaves, 5Jd. Butter, fresh, has been m shorter supplv. Improved demand at 5Jd to 7d for local, and fc'd to 7d for Taranaki. Eggs came to hand in larger quantities, and realised Is lOd to 2s per dozen; money, fair quantities, quitted at 21d to 3d. In the poultry department there was a largo supply: prices were about fame as last week. First-class table fowls realised Is 5d to 1« 9d; ordinary, Is 2d to Is 3d ; poor and small, lOd to Is; roosters, young in condition. Is 7d to 2s 3d; small and poor. Is to Is 3d.; pea fowls, 2s 9d each; geese, 2s.Cd to 3s 3d; turkeys, 2s 5d to 6s each. Pigs entered in largo numbers, best lots. 7s 3d to 10s; others. 3s to 6s. Fruit: Local has been in better supply at satisfactory prices. Apples, ljd to 2ld; pears, IJd to 21d: medlars, Id; lemons, 4Jd to Is; Cape gooseberries. 4d to 41d; tomatoes. Jd to lid: passion fruit, 3d. Oranges: Market very bare, at 5d to 8d per dozen. On Thursday a sale of bananas was held; the supplies were in excess of market requirements, consequently prices ruled low, 1,913 bunches were cleared at §d to 2d per lb. Dead rabbits: A quantity to hand realised Is to Is 2d per pair.
