Thame?, May 15. Saxon. —The directors of this company have decided to incroduco two Watson and Denny’s patent grinding and amalgamating pans from Melbourne as an experiment. The idea is to try the tailings by this process. It appears that a large quantity of tailings have accumulated, and 7d per load was the highest offer received from purchasers. Decently, five loads were treated by the Watson and Denny process, which gave a return equal to £2 3s 6d per load. Each pan will be capable of treating 12 tons of tailing's per week. Thames Drainage Association. —The usual monthly meeting of this body was held yesterday in Mr D. G. Mac Donnell’s office. Mr J. M. Lennox presided, and there wero also present, Messrs A. Brodie, S. Turtle, W. S. Wilson, J. Frater, R, Spratt, J. McGowan, and R. Comer. The engineer reported that the Big Pump machinery was in good condition. Accounts for £317 were also authorised to be paid. A discussion took place regarding the purchase of a rock drill, but no decision was arrived at. Norfolk. — A start to crush will be made in a day or two. The reef in the winze is three feet thick and gives fair dish prospects. j Caledonian.— Colours of gold were seen in the quartz at No. 1 leader last breaking down. Although small the leader may change for the better any time. Another week should bring the leading etope westward to Rowe’s pass. The quartz here is kindly, but shows no gold. Last Thursday the leader was broken clown over the place where the trold was got in. the leading stope, but only olb of picked stone were obtained. The leader in the back of the stope still looks well for gold. Crushing commenced to-day at the Cambria battery. Mangkau. Mulligan’s leader is not looking so well in the slopes, being very, small and broken up. The now leader looks well, and should yield better judging from the favourable mineral indications in the stone for gold, which are really good. The manager writes:—“ I am surprised I have not met with a patch before this, and the chances are that we might get one yet in this lode.” Cambria. —Cleaning up to-day for fcho month produced 1620 z gold from 75 loads of quarts and 301 b picked stone. Warden’s Court.— At the Warden’s Court to day the Perseverance licenced holding, at To Mata, was forfeited. There was also a plaint for non-working against t. Block 27, Goldraining'Company, but it • adjourned to the 39th inst.
