NEW PLYMOUTH MURDER.

New Plymouth May 15. At the Recreation Ground murder inquest, George Wilson, a travelling cutler and umbrella maker, who lived ab Napior, said ho knew Mahi Kai by sight. He saw him in the Salvation Army barracks, where he sab alongside of his little boy. He saw Mahi every night for a week. On Friday, April 11th, between eloven and twelve o’clock, he was sharpening knives in front of a restaurant in Devon street. He afterwards went to the telegraph office to send a telegram to Napier. He saw Mahi on that Friday between eleven and twelve alongside his grinding machine, opposite the restaurant, and shook hands with him. George Gruy, counter clerk at the Telegraph Office, produced the telegram eenb by Wilson on Friday, April 11th, ab noon. He gave evidence also to prove that, besides the mark on the telegram stating it was received at noon, Wi‘son had handed it in at that hour. Albert Wilson, eon of a previous witness, gave corroborative evidence as to seeing and talking with Mahi between eleven and twelve on tho Friday the murder was committed, that time being fixed by the police when tho accused is supposed to have committed the deed. None’ of the witnesses, although severely cross-examined by the G’rown Prosecutor a 3 to their credibility, have been shaken in their evidence, and it is evident now that Maloney was seen alive ab one o’clock on the day of the murder by two witnesses.
