RETURN OF BOULANGER DENIED. LOUISE MICHEL TO BE INDICTED. STRIKE OF WOOLLEN FACTORY EMPLOYEES. London, May 2. “Le Figaro ” denies the statement that General Boulanger is returning to Paris. The Governor of Paris publicly thanked and rewarded the soldiers for their conduct in repressing disturbance during the labour demonstrations. Louise Michel will be indicted in Paris for delivering a seditious speech. The majority of those arrested in Paris on suspicion of being connected with the Anarchists have been released. Labour riots have broken out at Roubaix, a chief seat of the French woollen manufacture, and troops had to be called out to disperse the mob. Forty thousand employees of the woollen factories in Roubaix are on strike. The French Bourse has risen. Yesterday the Austrian Government conceded the employees a half-holiday, to enable them to take part in the labour celebrations, and private employers gave the whole dav. Not a single arrest or case of disorderly conduct is reported. Strikes are spreading throughout Spain. Owing to riots at Barcelona, martial law has been proclaimed there. The eight-hour system is being conceded by numerous masters throughout Spain. During the labour celebration at Valencia military aid was invoked to maintain order. It will probably be enacted that 9,000 Government employees who were absent without leave at Hamburg on the Ist will be dismissed. The eight-hour agitation is. - spreading through the United States.
