In Christchurch, St. Andrew is still favourite for the New Zealand Cup at 100 to 8, and small sums have been invested in favour of Merrie England, Chain Shot, and Medallion at 100 to 6. Poole, the Dunedin trainer, has fully made up his mind to take Wairangi to Aus tralia, and haveacutin at the V.R.C. Grand National. Auckland “ punters ” are already backing Carbine for the next Melbourne Cup. I see by a late jsaper that his legs are as sound as any trainer, could desire. :
