“ Augur,” referring to Gatling’s running in the First Foal Stakes at the A.J.C. Meeting, says:—“The New Zealand colt got badly away, but he ran well, neverbhe. leas, and beat Marco fairly and squarely for second place. He is a remarkably finelooking colt, and will be heard of in future events.” Prince Charming, a colt by Sir Modred from Carissima, is described as the handsomest two-year-old in America. The St. Leger—Raupo filly, purchased by Mr S. It. Wilson at the New' Zealand Stud Company’s last sale, has been placed in the hands of the Adelaide trainer Jenkins to be prepared for her engage ments.
