The charge of John Byrne against Albert E. Wight, for alleged horse stealing, was heard at the Paerou Police Court, before fl. W. Norlhcroft, Esq ~ K.M., on Monday aad yesterday, Mr Miller appeared as solicitor for the prosecution, and Mr Tims. Cotter for the defence. The evidence was very voluminous, and resulted in His Worship dismissing the case. W, McKee, who for the past three years has filled the positionnf messengerat the Te Ajolia post auil telegraph office ; has been promoted cadet, arid been transferred to Wellington, whither he proceeded on Saturday last. During his term of office at Te Arohu he was civil and obliging, discharged bis duties very efficiently, and we have no doubt will mike rapid progiess in his new' sphere of labour. We wish him every success. His younger brother, John, has been .appointed messenger at T’e Amin, to fill the vacancy.
