Mi D. Rutherford, owner of Ahua, intends asking the Canterbury Jockey Club to ask the handicapping committee how they arrived at the conclusion that l‘2st was a reasonable impost to ask Ahua to carry in the Epsom Welter Handicap. Mr R. Mason was not able to attend the C.J.C. Meeting owing to serious illness. He is suffering from congestion of the lungs. . It is somewhat of a coincidence that K. Cutts has twice been second for the Great Autumn Handicap, and on each occasion his representative has carried the same weight—9st 81b. Mata ran a big second to Camballo under that in 188 Q, and Dudu was similarly placed this year.
