BITS OF TURF. The double of Titan and Prince Consorb has already been backed for tbe next V.R.C, Derby and Melbourne Cup to win a big stake.
The annual meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt Club was held yesterday afternoon, Air VV. Pereival, master of the hounds, presiding. The balance-sheet showed receipts to be £752 0s lid, including £8 12s 5d from last year. The expenditure left a balance of £39 4s 6d in hand. The secretary, Mr H. H. Hayr, was granted £ls as a recognition of his services. Air W. Percival was re-eiected master of the hounds for the ensuing year, Mr R. Garrett re-elected treasurer, and Messrs E. D. O’Rorke, S. Williamson, Thomas Hayr, and H. Harris were elected a committee. Air H. H. Hayr was re-elected secretary. At the Timaru races yesterday, La Rose won the S.C. J.C. Handicap, Sfc. James and Quibble filling the other places. La Rose also annexed the Stewards’ Stakes.
The Taranaki Jockey Club made a profit of £4O over their Anniversary Aleeting. This is the way a Sydney paper sums up Carbine: - “ Abercorn was a great horse if quite well, but for consistent excellence Mr White’s chestnutmustgive place to Alusket’s best son.
