LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. BOURKE IN EXTREME PERIL. SYDNEY, Friday.. The greatest excitement still prevails here with regard 1o Bouike township. Tl’je water has risen to a level with the top of the earthwork embankment erected for protective [imposes. The inhabitants are fighting the Pood waters inch by inch. Tbe railway line is now impassable for n distance of seven miles. Steamers are waiting to carry the defenders off to a place of safety in the event of the waters prevailing.
