The question of a quarantine station for cattle for the port of Auckland appears likely to be speedily settled, the following communication having been received from the Hon. E. Mitchelson Dear Mr Lawry : Hon. Mr Mitchelson desires me to let you know that he has received a telegram from Hon. Mr Richardson to say that he has ordered an estimate to be prepared of the cost of fitting up a quarantine station at Auckland so that the matter can be considered when Ministers re-aesemble in Wellington.—Yours, etc.. Author T. Bate, Private Secretary.”' In consequence of this Mr Clifton, the chief sheep inspector for Auckland, has already gone to Motiuhi in order to report upon the adaptability of that island for a quarantine station. '
