KUAOYUNU GOLDFIELD.

- (FROM our own correspondent. ) Klaotunu, Apiil 2. There is nothing new to report hero for the past week. Mr G. Fraser is making excellent progress with the Try Fluke Battery water race and tram-line. He has 15 men engaged at the different works, and, judging from the progress made within the last fortnight, I have not the slightest hesitation in saying thabeverything should be in working order in eight or nine weeks hence, bar accidents. The mine is looking as well as ever. The winze is now down a depth of 50 odd feet. The reef has widened out to 9 feet, and prospects as usual. The contractors at the low level have made very .fair progress ; the country penetrated is of a bluish character, heavily charged with bright mineral. The Carbine people are busy breaking and bagging their ten-ton parcel. The ore coming to hand shows gold freely. The reef is fully three feet in thickness, and appears to widen out as it is sunk on. The Otama are also busy bagging their 100-ton parcel. Tenders are called for delivery of same from the Otama mine to the Moanataiari Battery. This parcel should be a fair test of the whole mine.

The Goldstreak people intend driving a tunnel of 500 feet. This tunnel will intersect all the reefs known to run through their property. There is nothing new to report from the other mines.
