Emin Bey is organising an immediate Caravan for Lake Victoria Nynnza, with the view of anticipating English plans. Major Wissman is parleying for the services of Tippo Tibb, and is endeavouring to close all trade rentes against the British East African Company through Massnil.
Emin Bey’s caravan for Labe Victoria Nyanza leaves Zanzibar on 20th inst. ZANZIBAR, April 3. Emin Bey vehemently denies that he was concerned in the action brought by Stanley against Tippo Tib, claiming damages for breach of contract. Emin’s conduct in connection with the new expedition is regarded as treacherous.
ATTEMPT ON THE LIFE OF THE CZAR. SUPPOSED TO BE POISONED OR WOUNDED. LONDON, April 3. The Daily Chronicle states that an attempt was made on the life of the Czar, and was partially successful. It adds that it is not known, whether he was poisoned or wouitded. It is reprrted that His Majesty is now suffering from fainting fits. THE LIVERPOOL DOCK STRIKE. LONDON, April I. The Liverpool dock owners have consented to have the matters in dispute between themselves and their employees referred to arbitration. The Unionists who were on strike, have consequently resumed work.
THE BOOTMAKERS STRIKE, LONDON, April 2. Many of the masters have conceded the bootmakers’ demands for increase of wages, and the men are resuming work.
