Auckland, March 29. Messrs Arthur and Budule report a busy week in all departments. Produce lias come vo hand m good quantity, and has met with fair uemand at about last week’s prices. Except in the case o£ fresh butter, a rise has taken place for good quality; more could have been sold. Fresh eggs were wanted. Good bacon and hams are in demand. There was only a supply of Canterbury entered. Fruit has come to hand in large quantity, and has sold at. fair prices; pears (dessert), 2d to 4Jd; tipples of good quality- have brought rjd to 2-td; small and wormy ones arc difficult to sell at low j prices, they brought id to Id per lb. A few good hothouse grapes brought lid to Is per lb; other lots not in good condition sold at 3d to 51,'d ; quinces, i'd to lid ; damsons, 3d; lemons, small, 4d to 9 : !d. Poultry: A larger supply of all kinds than there has been for some time; all sold well: fowls. Is Id to 2s; chicks, 4d to Is 3d; Plymouth Kooks, Is 6d to Is 8d ; Plymouth Rock chicks. Is to Is 7d ; Houdati chicks. Is 2d to Is sd; White Leghorns, is 8d to Is 9d; Brown Loghornf, ls6d; turkeys, 3s Id to 4s Id ; young news, 2s Id to 2s 6d; ducks. Is 2d to 2s 3d ; geese, 3s to 5s 6d ; pigeons, 6cl to 9d : guinea pigs, 9d to lOd. Nine sales by auction have been held; the whole have been well attended. Mr Alexander Aitken’s Market Report. —During the week produce of all kinds lias been in good demand, and more than the usual quantities have been quitted. Prime samples of potatoes have been short of requirements, and upwards of 70 tons have been quitted at an advance on late quotations. With second-class the market is at present overstocked, with no demand. Onions have come to hand in large quantities, and the tendency is downward. I have sold at :}d to I<l for prime lots ; others, id ; picklors, Jd to T',d. Wheat supplies all cleared at 2s to 3s 3d'; oats, 2s to 2s 3d : bran, 4s to 4s 6d; maize, none ; sharps, £5; cow potatoes, 30s to 355; pumpkins, Is 6d to 4s 3d per evvt; cabbages, inferior. Is 6d to 2s 6d per sack ; peas, lOd to 2s per peck; mangolds, 20s per ton; t urnips, none; carrots, 6d per dozen ; beet, 7s per ewt;-garlic, 3.U1. Bacon and bams; Only Southern on hand. Owing to a high price being required, there is but little demand at 8d to IORI. Cheese ; Farmers' plentiful at 3d to 4d; factory, scarce at 4d to s<Vd. Butter: Fresh of prime quality scarce at lOd to lOicl, other kinds 6d to Bd. A largo quantity of prime keg butter could have been , quitted, but little to hand at 6d to Sd ; medium and pastry is slow at 3d to 4d. Eggs have been more plentiful at Is 8d to 2s 3d per dozen: pickled. Is to Is 3d. In the poultry department the supply has been very large, upwards of 2,000 head being penned, and notwithstanding the large quantity, satisfactory prices were obtained. Poor, old, and small fowls realised Is to Is 2d: good' ordinary, Is 4d to Is 6d ; heavy table fowls. Is 7d to 2s; roosters, voung in condition. Is 7d to 2s 2d ; others. Is 2d to Is 6d; ducks. Is 9d to 2s ; geese. 2s 4d to 3s 9d ; turkeys, hens, 2s 8d to 3s 6d ; gobblers- 4s to 6s 6d. figs were entered in fair numbers, and prices ruled from 4s 6d to 10s, according to size and breeding. In the fruit department the supply was very large. First-class cooking apples have realised from 3d to ljd, inferior Id, choice dessert variety, lid to 2!d, ordinary 3d to ljd; pears, various dessert kinds, 2d to 4|d, cooking kinds, Ikl to 21d ; quinces, 3d to lid; damsons, 2fd to 3d ; passion fruit, lid to 21d per dozen ; fins. 2d to 3d ; lemons, 5d to Is 2d ; rockmelons. 2s 8d to 4s per dozen ; watermelons, 5s toss6d: Cape gooseberries, sd; tomatoes, ltd to 2fd ; peaches, Is to 2s 6d per dozen and 3d to 4Adperlb: grapes, none; walnuts, 9d per lb; filberts, lOd. Owing to next Friday being Good Friday the usual weekly sale will be held on Thursday.
Messrs Ai.kked Buckland and Sons Weekly Rel’Oß'\—At ihe Ha.markct during the past week, fodder was better worth, and ranged from 2s 6d to 3s 6d the ewt; oats, Is lid to 2s 2d; maize, 3s 6d ; wheat, 3s ; rye grass, os 6d; cocksfoot, 6s 6d the bushel. At the Haymarket sale on Friday, horses were entered in moderate number only: prices were firm; heavy draught, £l4 and £l6 ; medium draught, £5 to £ll 10s ; spring cart, £10; harness. £4; horse, cart, and harness, £B. On Tuesday hides were pitched in unusually large numbers; heavy hides ranged up to 4Ad, but light hides were low, varying from lid to 21 d ; calfskins, 3d to 41d the lb ; tallow, 16s 6A to 18s 9d the ewt; rough fat, lid the lb : bones, £4 10s the ton ; skins and pelts, from 9d to 2s 9d ; lambskins, Is to 2s 8d each; lambswool, 61-d to 7-’d the lb. At the monthly cattle sale at Par akura on Wednesday there ivas a better supply of cattle than usual. For good dairy cows there ivas an improved demand: other cattle at late values. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cattle wore scarcely in as much request as last week. Fat cattle, in less than usual number, advanced in price about Is the 1001 b ; steers were steady at 16s; coavs, 10s to 12s the 1001 b; fat calves, in full number, kept their values, those from Waikato brought from 18s to 35s each. Sheep were also in demand, and advanced about Is each; wethers brought from 11s to 15s; ewes, 7s to 10s 6d; lambs, 9s to 13s each. Pigs, numerous, mostly porkers from 601 b to 701 b; they brought from 14s to 17s each. Messrs Hunter and Nolan’s Wfkkly Redout.—Grain, seed, liorse feed, etc.; There has not been much doing: stocks are ample, and the demand sloav, Avithout alteration in values. We quote : Oats, Is 8d to 2s 3d per bushel; maize, 3s ; oaten chaff, t2 10s to £3 per ton; bran, £4 per ton ; rye grass, 5s to 7s per bushel: cocksfoot, 6s to 7s 6d. Horses : The supply has been rather limited, but a good demand has existed for light harness and medium draught horses at prices shotting an upAvard tendency in value. There tvas but a moderate muster at the Durham Yards on Friday ; competition tvas steady throughout the sale, and with scarcely an exception lots Avore cleared. We quote hacks from £4 10s to £lO 10s: light harness horses, from £5 5s to £l2; medium draughts broken, £7 10s to £ls ; unbroken colts. £8 to £l2 15s. Wool, hides, and sMns: The demand for avool has been good, and prices for longwool sustained, selling at from 7id to 7i;d; looks ancl pieces. 5d to 5.U1, Heavy ox hides have not been brought forward in sufficient quantities for requirements, ana consequently there remains an unsatisfied demand ; prices ruled relatively higher than other sorts; sheepskins and pelts Averc in brisk demand, Wc quote: Heavy ox, from 41d to 53cl per lb; medium, 3d to 33d; light iveiglits and coav, lkl to 2.1 d; calfskin. 3d to 5d per lb ; sheepskins, Is lOd to 5s 4d each ; lambskins. 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; pelts, Is to Is 9d. Cattle . There has been a moderate supply of all descriptions, but a steady demand has existed at the previous week’s Values. The muster at Newmarket on Tuesday Avas a small one, but competition Avas good for dairy and store sto k at the previous Aveek’s value. Ox beef ranged from 15s to 18s per ICOlb; cow, from 14s to 15s. Sheep were fairly represented at the NeAvmarkct Yards on Tuesday, and were keenly competed for. Wethers, at front 11s 3d to 14s 3d : ewes, 7s 6cl to 10s; mixed sexes, 9s 3d to Us. Pigs: Scarce; a good demand exists for porkers at 3d per lb live weight, Messrs G. W. Binxev and Sons’ Redout.— We sold, on account of the Auckland Freezing Company, 600 ox hides at a satisfactory figure. On Tuesday heavy hides sold freely at the late advance, but light slioAved a downwai d tendency, Picked ox sold front 41d to 6}d ; heavy, 33 to 4.1 d ; steer hides, 2d to 3d ; cow, heal'y, 2ki; average lots, lid to 2d ; kips, lid to 3d; calf, 3d to 4jd; damaged, id to Id per ib. Sheepskins : Prices remain firm; best skins, up to 3s 8d; lambs’, large, 2s 3d to 3s; country salted. 2s to 3s 2d for sound pelted ; farmers’ lots, 6d to 2s 6d each. Bonus: Demand very brisk up to 4s 9d percAVt. TalloAv: Short supply; medium sold at 16s 6d per CAvt. Wool: Lambs’ selling front 6:;d to 73d per lb; crossbred, 7d to 7Jd per lb.

Wheat - (sacks extra), oats, chaff, oatmeal, sold sacks included. Kauri Gum. The gum market is firm. The current rate for ordinary gum is about £3B. with good to superior at £4O and £4l per ton. East Coast is in good demand, and is firm at £56 to £SB. The supplies for the month to date are about 500 tons.
