Nearly Buried Alive.

From Malaga comes the following touching story •. A short time ago a little girl of 7 was seized with a sudden and, after a few hours’ intense suffering, died. The doctors who had vainly tried to save the child’s life now as futilely sought to persuade the distracted mother that her little girl was really dead. In spite of their assurances to the contrary, the poor woman, with tears and sobs, protested that she was sure her darling was only in a trance, and would soon come to life again ; and no entreaties could induce her to give her consent to the interment of the body. At last, thoroughly worn out with grief and excitement, she lay down to take a little rest, and, as soon as she had fallen asleep, the relatives took advantage of the opportunity to removetheciiild tothecemetery ; but justas they were about to put the little coffin into the grave the mother came running up, screaming like a mad woman, ‘Give me back mychild! GivemebackmyDoloress!’ They feared that if they did not comply with her request she would really lose her reason and eventually she had her will, and the coffin was carried back to the house, and the mother laid the body again on its little bed and watched it as she had done before. Wonderful to relate, in a few hours some slight signs of life were observed ! The doctors wore called back, the proper measures were taken, and the child was eventually completely restored. The mother had been rightthe death-like appearance which had completely deceived even the physicians were due merely to a trance.
