Auckland, March 22. Messrs Arthur and Buddlk report a verybusy week in all departments. Produce of all kinds about the same as last week; a good upply of most kinds. Potatoes must be of first-class sample to command a price; onions not so brisk. Good bacon, cheese, butter, and eggs wanted. Fruit has come to hand in large quantities, principally apples. Many of these were of inferior sample, and difficult to get off at-low prices. Pears have sold well up to 4d per lb. Peaches have brought high prices, up to 15Jd per dozen and lid per lb, equal to about 4s per dozen. Fowls have come to hand in good numbers, and sold at much better prices— Is 2d to 2s 7d each; chicks, Sd to Is 5d ; ducks, Is 5d to Is 8d ; ducklings. Is ; hen and chicks, 3s 3d; Creve Cceur fowls, 2s ; Plymouth Rocks, 2s 4d ; Plymouth Rock chicks, Is Id ; turkeys. 3s 3d to ss; small, 2s 7d; pigs, 3s 9d to 10s. No geese Mr Alexander Aitken’s Market Report.—Poor and old fowls, Is 3d to Is sd; good ordinary. ls6dto Is lOd: roosters, young, in condition, Is 9d to 2s 3d; others, Is Id to Is 7d; ducks. Is 6d to 2s ; geese, 3s to 3s 6d ; turkeys, hens 4s to ss, gobblers. 7s to 8s each. Pigs : Moderate supply; first-class lots, 10s to 12s; medium, 7s to 8s; small, 4s to ss. No cage birds entered. Potatoes have been more plentiful ; guaranteed samples have been quitted in fair quantities at £3 to £3 ss: other kinds sell only at auction at from £2 to £2lss; cow potatoes, 30s to 40s. Onions: Orders for several tons of firstclass, at £7los, could not be executed, owing to short supply. A quantity of inferior on hand could not be quitted; prime have been sold at 3d to Id. Carrots, 2s 3d to 2s sd; wheat is wanted at 3s; bran, £4; Bharps, £4 10s; maize, none. Hams and bacon : Only Southern to hand: farmers’ cure, by the case 6d, for equal numbers; firsts, bacon 8(d, hams lOd. Cheese : Farmers’ lots overstocked ; demand dull at 3d to 4d; factory, none. Eggs: Moderate supply at Is 6d to 2s per dozen. Fresh butter: Short supply at 9d to lOd. keg butter, 3d to 7d. Honey : Several tons of ordinary quality in bulk on order at 2Jd; clover, in small tins, 3jd; section, dull at 3d to 3id. Fruit of all kinds plentiful at slightly lower values. Good cooking apples, £d to lid; dessert varieties, Id to 2(d; quinces, case 3,3 d to l(d ; sacks, |d to id : lemons, 5d to Is 2d per dozen ; Cape gooseberries, 5d ; water melons, 5s per dozen; rock, 3s to 4s; pears, dessert, 2jd to 4.(d ; cooking, l(d to 2d ; plums, 3Jd to 5d ; peaches, large, 23 6d to 3s per dozen ; small, 5d to Is 6d; passion fruit, 21d to 2^d; grapes, indoor, 4d to 6d ; outdoor, 2d to damsons, 23d to 3(d ; bullaces, Id ; figs, 2id.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons Weekly Report.—At the .Hayinarset during the past week meadow hay and oaten sheaves ranged from 2s 3d to 2s 9d the cwt; maize, 3s 6d; wheat, 3s : oats, Is lOd to 2s; wheat, 3s ; cocksfoot, 6s 6d; rye, 4s lOd to 6s; bard fescue, 7s the bushel. At the horse sale on Friday more than the usual number of horse 3 were sold, and prices were firm. Useful medium draught ranged from £7 to £l2; ordinary hacks, £3 to £8 each ; the phaeton, £lO 15s. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday hides advanced in price. On ordinary hides fully onefarthing, and on heavy ox halfpenny the lb. Best butchers’ ox hides brought from 4id to 6d the lb, or from 24s to £2 each. Cow hides and inferior ox from ljd to 2Jd the lb; ordinary ox hides. 3Ad to s:{d ; calfskins, 3d to 4.3 d the lb ; tallow, "12s 6d to 18s the cwt; pelts, lOd to 2s 9d ; lambskins, Is 6d to 2s 2d each ; wool, in bales, 6d to BJd the lb. At the Drury cattle sale,consequent on the dry weather, store cattle were at lower values, but dairy cattle were in fair demand. At Kemuera on Thursday dairy cows near calving were offered in loss than usual numbers, hut were in demand at an advance over late values. Store cattle scarcely represented. Fat cattle plentiful, and scarcely maintained late values. Prices for steers ranged from 13s o 15s; cows, 10s to 13s the 1001 b. Sheep, in usual supply, were also lower n. pric ■, near Is each; wethers, 2Jd; ewes, 13d the lb, were the ruling prices ; porkers of good quality in full number, and brought from 16s to 245; and young store pigs, abundant, were from 2s to 8s each. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report.—Horse feed, wrain, seeds, etc.: There has been a little better demand for seeds, but purchasers are unwilling to give the prices ruling this season ; grain has sold steadily, and chaff and bran have been in good demand. We quote; Rye grass from 5s to 7s per bushel; cocksfoot, 6s 6A to 7s 6d ; feed oats. Is 9d to 2s 3d: maize, 3s per bushel; bran, £4 per ton; oaten chaff, from £2 10s to £3 per ton ; pressed hay, £4. Horses: The supply was unusually small, and the demand was rather brisk, consequently there remained an unsatisfied demand for all of a good stamp, particularly in plough and light harness horses. A limited business was done at the Durham Yards on Friday, less than the usual number being offered ; there was a slight advance in value, and several orders remained unsupplied, but there were no noteworthy alterations in values. Hides and skins : Less, than the usual number -were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. Extra heavy ox hides were in great demand; light and medium were relatively much lower, selling at from 2d to 3 I per lb; heavies being well competed for up to 43d per lb; cow, lid to 2d: calfskins, from 21 dto 4d per lb ; sheepskins, 2s Id to 5s 6d ; pelts. Is 6d to Is lid; lambskins, 2s 6d to 3s each ; wool, 71d to 73d : locks, 33d to 63d ; pieces, 6d to 7la. Cattle: There has been an active demand for dairy cows at their profit. There has not been much doing in stores, but fat beasts have been in moderate supply and steady demand. At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday, there was an average muster of dairies, a small one of stores, and an average one of fat beasts. Dairy cows were eagerly competed for, and sold at from £4 to £7 12s 6d ; ox beef sold at from 14s to 17s per 1001 b ; cow, from 11s to 15s. Some averages of steers were £6 7s 6d. £6 5s 6d. £5 15s, £sl2s 6d. £5 10s 6d, £5 7s 6d, £4 5s- Cows: £4 ss, £4 2s 6d, £3l7s 9d, £3 12s 6d. Sheep were penned at Newmarket in quite average numbers on Tuesday, and were well competed for. Wethers, from 9s 3d to 14s ; ewes, 7s 9d to 11s 6d ; mixed sexes, 8s 3d to 12s 6d. Lambs: But few yarded, and light weights sold at from 9s to 9s 9d each. Pigs: Scarce, and without alteration in value. Messrs G. W. Binney and Sons Report. —On Tuesday all hides, sheepskins, tallow, wool, hones, etc., sold under brisk competition. Hides show again an advance on last week’s quotations for sound, well taken off; but badly flayed and dirty lots still low; prime stout ox are very'scarce, and command fancy values; heavy stout ox, 4d to 43d; heavy, 33d to 3!d; steer, 21d to 3d; cow, sound and clean, 2d to 2i‘d ; wet salted, ljd to 1.3 d; kip, light, 2£d to 3id ; heavy, 2d to 2(d : calf, 4d to 43d; damaged, Jd to ljd; stags, Id to lSd per lb. Sheepfkins: Buyers are operating freely, and prices obtained are very satisfactory. Salted pelts (country) sold from 2s 2d tq 3s for.best; medium. Is '6d to 2s; small, la to Is 3d. Dry come to hand damaged more or less by the weavil, and cause loss to the vendors and give no satisfaction to the purchaser. Wool: Lamb’s sells freely from 63d to 7id per lb. Tallpw: Good demand, with short supply. We quote Best, 17s to 17s 6d: medium, 14s to 16s; inferior, 8s to 11s per cwt. Bones: Firm at 4s 6d per cwt.
