THE COLLIERY STRIKE.
London, March 17. The colliery owners have appointed a committee to meet the delegates of the miners on Thursday next.
A settlement of the matter in dispute is now more hopeful, but in the event of the owners refusing to give way to some extent the colliers are determined to fight to the bitter end. The Federated Colliery Owners have reiterated their refusal to the colliers’ terms, and have approached the committee appointed to confer with the miners’ delegates to promote an amicable settlement, and, if possible, arrange a method for the prevention of future disDutes.
Several of the large factories and mills at Bradford, Burniey, and Sheffield have been closed owing to the strike among the colliers.
