Harry Thompson, who rede Tirailleur in the Great Northern Derby, has taken over the charge of the Christchurch Middle Bark stud. W. Ciiflord has been voted 15 guineas out of the Distressed Jockeys’ Fund" of the Auckland Racing Club. At a recent agricultural show in a Victorian country district, the prize for the best thoroughbred stallion was carried off by Mr J. O. Inglis’ Haore, a three-year-old son of Malua. Haere's dam is Norma, the dam of Dirriwell, the Melbourne Cup winner. Mentor was awarded second prize, Calma third, and Maiua fourth.

Auckland Tattersali’s Club came out of their recent race meeting with a profit of about £2O.

The Taranaki Jockey Club intend having a pony race on each day of their anniversary meeting. The highest winning owners at the Manawatu Racing Club were Messrs Hill and Poole, with £l6O. Air T. Hedger, of Auckland, came next, tho victories of Antelope netting him £l4O. A new racing club has been formed at Avondale. The course on which it is intended to hold the gatherings is said to bo an excellent one.
