KUAOTUNU GOLDFIELD.

ITS POSITION ANI> PROSPECTS

OPINION OF AUCKLAND VISITORS.

Coko.mandel, this day. I have just, interviewed a party returne a from Kuaotunu, including John Lynch* James Darrah, and Mr Murray, Bank of New Zealand, Thames. They say there are now over three hundred mines on the fields which cannot be beaten. Every claim has most encouraging prospects. The party visited the Lucky Hit, where they themselves saw fine dish prospects. Thence they visited the YVaitai, where they saw gold in the stone, three reefs ranging from four to six feet wide well defined.

They proceeded to the Try Fluke, the great claim, where good gold was seen in the stone, and good dish prospects were obtained.

The party called at the Carbine claim but saw no gold In the stone, though good dish prospects were got. The winze is forty feet down.

The prospects of the John Bull are considered equal to anything on the field. The reef is eight feet wide, clearly defined. The lower level is two hundred feet deep. The party went to the Mercury, and saw several reefs showing good gold; then to the Great Mercury, and just in time. Both appeared very good.

The general opinion formed of the field is that it is really genuine.

A battery with twenty head of stampers is to be erected if arrangements pan bo made.
