Auckland, March 15. Messrs Arthur and Huddle’s Weekly Kurort.—A busy week in all departments. Produce remains about the same. Good bacon wanted. Cheese moves off slowly. Fresh butter not so plentiful. A very large quantity of fruit, to hand, parliculury so on Friday. The sale continued to near six o’clock. Poultry has not so’d so well us they did last week ; the larger buyers did not require any. a good number of pigs were notin good demand. Ten salt sby auction have been held this week. Monday : Drapery and clothing, at the mart. Good prices were obtained. Tuesday; Cottage and allotment. Mount Eden Road, sold by order of the Sheriff, brought £230. Household furniture, &e., at Mrs K. Fletcher’s house, Hobson-street. Wednesday : Household furniture, under bill of sale, at the mart, and household furniture at Mrs Hurst’s, Dcvonport, North Shore. Thursday; Household furniture and efe; t; at tho residence of Airs Shor'and, Grey-street; property, by order of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, at the mart. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, at the mart: Produce, fruit, poultry, pigs, etc. All the sales were well attended and prices satisfactory. Hobart, 2s 6d to 3s 3d ; inferior, Is 3d to 2s 2d: cow potatoes, Is; peas, Is 3d per peck : celery, Is Id to Is £d; pumpkins, 2s 6d to 4s 7d: mangolds. Is 6d to Is 7d; turnips, Cd per dozen; parsnips, 9d to 93d; carrots, 73d per dozen; red cabbage, 7d to Is per dozen; rhubarb, 2s; kumerns, 4s to ss; onions, Id; brail, 4s per sack; sharps. 4s: oats, 2s per bushel; wheat, 2s 9d to 2s lOd; maize, 3s; flour, ,418; cheese, 2d : to 3 : ,'d; aider bacon, 7d; hams, 5d to (.cl; honey, bulk, 2!d; small tins, 3d; mixed biscuits and ginger nuts, 4d; fresh butter. sjd to 83d; apples. Messrs Hunter and Nolan’s Weekly Report.—Grain, seed, horse feed, etc.: Sufficient quantities for requirements have been brought forward, and the demand has been moderate at quotations' Fcjcl oats. Is 9d to 2s 2d per bushel: maize, 3',; bran, £1 per ton; oaten chaff, £2 10s to £2 15s per ton. Horses: There has been increased activity in the market, and prices for those oi' a good stamp had an upward tendency. There was a good muster for sale by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Bidding was brisk, and almost without, exception lots wero cleared, and there remained a strong demand for medium draught and light harness horses. Wc quote. Hacks, from £5 to £9 10s ; light harness horses, from £5 10s to £lO 10s; medium draught, £7 10s to £ls 10s; medium draught colts, unbroken, from £8 10s to £ls. Wool, hides, skins, etc.: Stout ox hides were in unsatisfied demand at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, but it was #iack for light ox and cow hides. We quote: Heavy ox, 4d to 4|d per lb ; light and medium, from 2d to 31 per lb : cow, ljd to 2.1 per lb; calfskins, 23d to 43d per lb; sheepskins, in brisk demand, at from 2s to 5s 3d; lambskins, 2s lo 2a 9d; pelts, lOd to Is 8d; crossbred woo’, 73d per lb; lambswool, 71d to 73d. C >ttle: There has been increased activity in the market, both as regards supply and demand, and tho previous week’s values were maintained. There was a good muster at the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday of dairy and fat stock, und stores were well represented on Wednesday at Pukekohe. Prices for all descriptions were sustained. Some averages of fat stool’s were : £7 10s, £7 2s 6d, £6 16s, £5 16s, £5 14s, £5 7s 6d, £1 17s 6d ; cows, £5, £4 s@, £3 2s 6d. £2 153, £2 12s 6*. Sheep: Barely the usual numbers were penned on Tuesday. The demand was brisk, and tliero was an upward tendency in value. Wethers sold at 11s to 14s; ewes, 8s 9d to 12s 9d ; lambs, 7s 9d to 12s 3d. Pigs: No large or medium were yarded, but a good many small one 3 were disposed of at from 6s 2d to 17s each. Messrs Alfred Bucklaxd and Sons’ Weekly Report.—At the Hnymarkct during the past week oaten chart' lias sold for £2 15s an i £3 the ton; oaten sheaves, Is 9tl to 2s 3d; meadow hay, 2s 3d the cwt; oats, Is 8d to Is lid; maize, 2s 10.1 the bushel. At the horse sale on Friday, the unbroken medium draught stock brought fiom £6 to £9 10s ; heavy draught, £9 to £l4 10s a piece ; a buggy, £l6; good active draught, broken to harness, £lO 10a to £l3: and aged, useful horses of all classes, from £3 10s to £8 each. At the hide and skin sale, held on Tuesday, hides, in limited number, were generally at lower values; a few of prime quality brought from 4d to 5d the lb. but generally prices were from IJd to 23d ; calfskins, 4d to 43d the lb ; fat. Ijd the lb ; (allow, 1756 cl the cwt; pelts, from Is to 2s 6d; lambskins. Is Pd to 3s 5d each; lambswool, 7jd to 7i|d: merinos, BJd the lb. At Reniucra. on Thursday, dairy cattle were in limited number. Best animals brought £4 10s and £5 each. No store cat'ie offered. Fat cattle, in avorage minxbei’, were steady at last week’s quota’ions; Ship-borne cattle, 14s: Auckland steers, 15s: cows, 11s the 1001 b. Fat sheep, also in usual supply, were firm at a slight advance ove • last week’s values. Wethers ranged from 11s to 12s; ewes. 8s to 11s each. Fat lambs, in short supp'y. sold freely. Shorn' lambs. 8s 6d ; in their wool, 12s. Fat calyos were also better worth, and yopng pige in good inquiry.
Messrs G. \\’. Bnxey and Sons’ Report—On Tuesday we offered a large cata'ogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, wool, cte. There was a full attendance of buyers, and bidding was brisk throughout. Stout ox are very scarce, and command extreme values. Steer hides are plentiful, but sell readily. Cow hides show an advance on rates ruling of late, with a much better demand for all descriptions. We cjuote stout heavy, up to 4 : Jd; no prime offered ; medium, 3id ; steer, 2td to 3d ; cow, heavy, 2 : ,'d; medium, in lines, ljd to 2d; small lots,’ ltd to 2d ; kip. 2d to 3d: calf, up to 4Jd per lb ; damaged, at nominal figures. Sheepskins: Demand continues brisk, and all cleared under brisk bidding. Full-wools sold up to 5s 7d : butchers’ skins, from 2s for crossbreds to 3s 5d for picked longwools; lambs’, large, 2s 6d to 3s; medium, Is 9d to 2s 3d : small, Is to Is 6d each. Tallow, best, 17s 6d to 13s : medium. 14s to 16s; inferior, 9s to 10s per cwt; bones. 4s 6d per cwt.
