THE REPORTED GOLD DISCOVERY NEAR WHANGAREI. ALL A MISTAKE (!) The reported Whangarei Knitani assay returns now turns out to be the result of a blunder on the part of the assayer. Constable Ward has just received a t legrani from Inner, of Coromandel, informing him that the stone which was believed to be worth 1940zs of gold per ton, is of no value. It is stated in explanation that the crucibles used in’ the test were mixed, causing the error.
