THE NEWMARKET HANDICAP WINNER.
Churchill’s victory in the Newmarket Handicap on Saturday was a disastrous one for local “punters,” and the amount written against him by the combined ring was very small. The horse was trained by J. Redfearn on the Caulfield course, and late papers record him having done good work. Churchill’s record previous to Saturday was a bad one, and the only win to his credit was the Maiden Plate at the last Y.R.C. Autumn Meeting. He was fancied for the last Newmarket Handicap, won by Sedition, starting at 14 to 1, bub he could nob get nearer than fourth.
Mr Millen has disposed of Tupaki to Mr I. Hearnsbaw, who takes the horse to Syd ney. The price is said to be £IOO. According to % cablegram of yesterday s date Boz has broken down badly, having injured his fetlock joint. Lochiel and the brood mares Cypriote and Musk Deer have been shipped to Melbourne for sale.
