Casey, the contractor for carting the machinery, arrived with three teams of horses and dray, and will commence carting at once. The distance from the landing to the machine site is about one and a-half miles, so that the removal of the machinery will not take long. The result of the Obama crushing was received here on Saturday last, and appears to give considerable satisfaction throughout the whole field. Collin and party, who are working the ground adjoining the Otama, have obtained excellent prospects from what they judge to be the Otama reef. The Mascott is a piece of ground situated on the north end of the Otama and takes in all the Otama reefs. The proprietors are now engaged trenching, and have been very ortunate up to the present. They have cut 2 reefs which give excellent dish prospects. The reefs average from one foot to eighteen inches in thickness. The Goldenstreak adjoins the Mascott and embraces all the lino of Otama and Black Jack reefs. The prroprietors intend starting operations at an early date, and by the general outcrop of country, which is of the very best description for gold, they should meet with good prospects. The Midasclaim adjoinsthe Goldenstreak. Mr Clay forth, the proprietor, has let a contract for driving 100 feet. The country is first-class for gold. Tenders are called for packing 15 tons from the Try Fuke G.M. Company’s mine to the landing, and 10 tons from the Woodcock and Wilson claim, which is situated in the Waitaia district.
